Agriculture and Farmers are in focus of the Narendra Modi Government since it took over in 2014. In the last six years, the Government has taken many steps for empowerment of farmers and development of agriculture in the country.<br />''<br />''Speaking to AIR News, Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary said, the Government aims to double the income of farmers by 2022. <br />''<br />''He said, initiatives like PM-KISAN, E-NAM are benefiting the farmers. He said, starting from production to marketing, the Government is emphasising on every point. <br />''<br />''Mr Choudhary said, before 2014, the Agriculture Budget used to be around 25 to 30 thousand crore rupees. He said, &nbsp;the Budget has been increased to 1 lakh 50 thousand crore rupees. The Minister said, 75 thousand Crore rupees being sent to Farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer under Pradhan Mantri-KISAN Samman Nidhi.<br />''<br />''Mr Choudhary said, 10 thousand Farmer Producer Organisations, FPOs are being formed in the country and each FPO will be supported by the Government.<br />''<br />''With the Mantra of Annadata Sukhi Bhava, the Narendra Modi Government is focusing on the dissemination of technology till the last mile and making the farmers more competitive in the global value chain. Agriculture, which contributes 14 per cent to the GDP and employs 55 per cent of the population has got top priority of the Government.<br />
