Gorakhpur accident: Magisterial inquiry ordered; Death toll rises to 23

In Uttar Pradesh, the divisional commissioner has ordered for magisterial inquiry into the accident in Gorakhpur.

Both the state government and State Transport Corporation UPSRTC management have announced financial assistance to the victims of the road accident .

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Chief Minister has announced financial assistance of one lakh rupees to the kith and kin of each killed in the accident while 25 thousand rupees will be given to the passengers injured seriously and 10 thousand rupees for minor injuries.

The UPSRTC management has also announced to provide financial assistance of 50 thousand rupees to the relatives of each passenger killed in the accident and 10 thousand rupees for the passengers injured seriously and 5 thousand rupees for minor injuries.

Meanwhile , the death toll in road accident in Gorakhpur has risen to 23 as 8 more injured succumbed in BRD Medical College Hospital. 25 injured people are being treated at the hospital. The accident took place this afternoon when a Sonauli-bound state roadways bus collided with a private bus near the approach road of Maniram Bridge killing 15 passengers on the spot.
