Good Friday is being observed by Christians across the country and abroad today. The day marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on this day over 2,000 years ago. Special services are being organised in churches in Delhi and other places to observe the Good Friday. <br/><br/>Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a ceremony in Saint John Lateran Basilica to commemorate Jesus' Last Supper, and in the morning he held a Chrism Mass in Saint Peter's Basilica.<br/><br/>Good Friday is being observed in Goa today as in the rest of the country. Several programmes are being held to mark the occassion.<br/><br/>Early morning prayers, fasting and meditation marked Good Friday for millions of Christians across the southern state of Kerala. Special services have been held in all the important churches of the state. The religious procession, way of the cross, depicting the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the well-being of the mankind has been held in all the districts of Kerala.<br/><br/>In Mizoram, Good friday is observed with religious fervour by majority population of the Christians in the entire state today. Apart from Govt. Institutions and Schools, all commercial places are closed for the day. The Worship service began since midnight with the Roman Catholic church organising a midnight-mass last night, they also conduct processession in different localities this afternoon which will be followed by a mass in all the cathedrals while the Protestants organised worship service this morning which will be followed by another service in the evening. The observation of Good Friday will culminate with celebration of easter sunday, the day after tomorrow.
