Good food with regional flavour soon in trains: Gowda

Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has said arrangements have been made to provide good quality food of regional flavour to passengers on trains.

Replying to supplementaries during question hour in the Lok Sabha today, he said Railway Zonal Officers have been directed to periodically inspect the quality of the food served to passengers and impose penalties in cases of irregularities if any.

He said adequate arrangements have also been made to provide safe drinking water. Stating that safety of passengers, especially women is the concern of the government, the minister said several measures have been taken in this regard.

He said the railways is planning to install CCTV cameras in the coaches in which women passengers travel. He said the railways will soon recruit 4000 women constables to ensure safety of women passengers.
