The Group of Ministers (GOM) constituted to tackle corruption has urged the government to consider state funding of elections. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Law and Justice Minister

Salman Khurshid said that the GOM has considered certain proposals to address the issue of state funding of elections. He said a final decision in this regard is yet to be taken with the consensus of the political parties. Mr. Khurshid said considering the complexities of the matter, there can be no time-frame to implement the proposal.
