GOM on Telangana to submit its report to Cabinet by Month end

The Group of Ministers, GoM, set up to look into the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, has completed the process of discussions with various stake holders including eight political parties of the State.

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters in New Delhi on Monday, the GoM will meet to discuss among themselves to finalise the report.

Shinde said,the report will be submitted to the Cabinet as soon as possible to pave way for tabling Telangana Bill in Winter Session of Parliament beginning on 5th December.

AIR correspondent reports, the GoM headed by Shinde earlier in the day, held discussions separately with Union ministers from Telangana, Seemandhra and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.

The first meeting was with Union ministers hailing from Telangana region.

S Jaipal Reddy, Porika Balram Naik and Sarve Satyanarayana were among those who attended it.

Speaking to newsmen, Reddy said, it has been agreed that Hyderabad will remain common capital of the two states for a period of ten years.

He said, it was the last meeting of the GoM with the stakeholders. Reddy expressed the desire that Bhadrachalam temple situated along the border in Khammam district remain with Telangana.

The second meeting was attended by Union Ministers – M M Pallam Raju, K S Rao, D Purandeshwari, Panabaka Lakshmi and Jesudasu Seelam from Seemandhra region.

Jesudasu Seelam told reporters that Andhra Pradesh should remain united.

He, however, said that if it is done, the GoM should take care of people of Seemandhra staying in Hyderabad and do justice to them. He demanded that there should not be a time limit for keeping Hyderabad as a joint capital, rather, the decision in this connection should be linked to setting up of new capital for Andhra Pradesh.
