The Group of Ministers, GoM, on Telangana on Monday held discussions separately with Union ministers from Telangana, Seemandhra and Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The GoM chaired by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde held three meetings on the issue.
The first meeting was with Union ministers hailing from Telangana region. S Jaipal Reddy, Porika Balram Naik and Sarve Satyanarayana were among those who attended it.
Speaking to newsmen, Reddy said, it has been agreed that Hyderabad will remain common capital of the two states for a period of ten years. He said, it was the last meeting of the GoM.
Reddy expressed the desire that Bhadrachalam temple situated along the border in Khammam district remain with Telangana.
The second meeting was attended by Union Ministers – M M Pallam Raju, K S Rao, D Purandeshwari, Panabaka Lakshmi and Jesudasu Seelam from Seemandhra region. Jesudasu Seelam told reporters that Andhra Pradesh should remain united.
He, however, said that if it is done, the GoM should take care of people of Seemandhra staying in Hyderabad and do justice to them. He demanded that there should not be a time limit for keeping Hyderabad as a joint capital, rather, the decision in this connection should be linked to setting up of new capital for Andhra Pradesh.
