The Group of Ministers-GoM constituted on the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill today held its first meeting this evening to discuss various aspects of the Bill which aims at stringent punishment for sexual offences against women. The Union Cabinet had referred the Bill this morning to the GoM headed by the Finance Minister P.Chidambaram for evolving a consensus amid persisting differences on certain provisions of the Bill.
Talking to reporters after the meeting in New Delhi, Mr Chidambaram said, the GoM will meet again tomorrow to finalize the work related to it and then the Bill will go to the Cabinet on Thursday.
