A Group of Ministers, GoM, today approved a bill which seeks to set up an independent regulatory authority for the coal sector to address contentious issues like pricing, supply and quality. Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told reporters after the GoM meeting in New Delhi that the meeting was very successful on Coal Regulatory Authority Bill and pass-through mechanism for supply of coal. He said the draft bill will be moved to the Cabinet within ten days for its approval. Scindia said it balances and protects the interest of all stake holders.
