Riding high on a firm trend in the global markets, gold rose 70 rupees, to touch a new all-time peak of 24,350 rupees per ten grams at Delhi' bullion market, today. But silver plunged 3,100 rupees, to 58,600 rupees per kilo, on reduced offtake by industrial units and coin makers at existing high levels. Silver coins tumbled 3,000 rupees, to 63,500 rupees for buying 100 pieces.In the overseas market, gold gained 0.5 per cent, to 1,654 dollars an ounce, as debt concerns in the US and Europe spurred demand for the precious metal.
