Surpassing all previous records, gold gained 200 rupees, to touch a new all-time high of 23,620 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today, on increased buying by stockists and investors, as gold also rallied to a new peak in the global markets. Silver rose 500 rupees, to 59,500 rupees per kilo.Overseas, gold climbed 1.4 percent, to a fresh record above 1,624 dollars an ounce, after US lawmakers failed to reach an agreement on raising the federal debt limit, increasing concerns of a USdefault and boosting demand for the precious metal as a safe haven. Silver gained 1.5 per cent, to 40.74 dollars an ounce.
