Gold touches all-time high of 25,840 rupees per 10 grams

Boosted by a firm overseas trend, gold spurted 610 rupees, to touch a new all-time high of 25,840 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market on Tuesday. But silver met with resistance at prevailing high levels, and fell 1,000 rupees, to 58,900 rupees per kilo.In London, gold zoomed to a fresh record high of 1,778 dollars an ounce, as the turmoil in the global financial markets increased demand for the precious metal as a protector of wealth. Gold has gained about 8 percent this month.
