Gold surges by Rs 155 on jewellers' demand

Gold prices on Tuesday rose by 155 rupees to close at 32,650 rupees per 10 gram at Delhi bullion market due to increase in demand from local jewellers.

Similarly, silver prices surged by 425 rupees to 38,575 rupees per kg on strong demand from industrial units and coin makers.

Traders said gold saw on the uptrend on rising demand from local jewellers. Besides, a weakening rupee against the US dollar and positive global cues aided the gain in the prices.

Globally, gold stood at 1,246 US dollar 17 cents an ounce in New York and silver held steady at 14 dollar 59 cents an ounce.
