Gold rules steady; Silver spurts by 500 rupees

Gold held steady at 21,000 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, on Monday, on lack of buying at existing higher levels. But silver spurted 500 rupees, to a fresh all-time peak of 45,200 rupees per kilo, on buying by jewellers and industrial units for the ongoing marriage season. And silver coins zoomed 2,200 rupees, to a new record of 49,000 rupees per 100 pieces. In the overseas market, silver advanced 1.3 per cent, to 29.80 dollars an ounce, the highest price since March, 1980.
