Gold rose for the third straight day, gaining 35 rupees, to 27,960 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today, on sustained buying by stockiest, in line with a firm global trend. Silver strengthened 475 rupees, to 53,200 rupees per kilo. In the global markets, gold advanced 1.5 per cent, to a five-week high of 1,656 dollars an ounce, on mounting speculation that China will ease monetary policy. The dollar's decline also boosted the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative asset.
