Gold prices shot up 280 rupees, to touch a new peak of 16,470 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today, on increased buying for the ongoing marriage season, and a firm global trend. Silver ready rose 200 rupees, to 26,550 rupees per kilo. In the overseas markets, gold had spurted to 1,064 dollars, last evening, as a weakening dollar raised demand for the yellow metal.
