Gold prices zoomed past all previous records, jumping 195 rupees, to a new peak of 19,220 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today. Gold in futures trading on the Multi-Commodity Exchange climbed 1.2 per cent, to a new peak of 19,222 rupees per ten grams. Silver ready posted a hefty gain of 1,000 rupees, to 29,600 rupees per kilo. In London, gold surpassed all previous records, to trade at 1,252.90 dollars an ounce, as investors sought an alternative to currencies and equities, on mounting concerns over Europe's deepening debt crisis. Gold strengthened as the euro slipped to an over four year low against the US dollar.
