Gold prices shot up Rs 580, to Rs 30,250 per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today, largely in tandem with a firming global trend. Silver jumped Rs 700, to Rs 42,050 per kilo, on increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers. Silver coins spurted Rs 2,000, to Rs 72,000 for buying 100 pieces.Overseas, gold climbed 1.4 per cent, to 1,310 dollars an ounce, its highest since August 2014. Silver surged 2 per cent, to 17.86 dollars an ounce. Gold rose as the US central bank scaled back its outlook for interest rate increases and signaled that rates may stay lower for longer. Gold prices have surged 23 per cent so far this year, on increasing global economic and political risks.
