Gold hits one-month high of Rs. 28,625 on global cues

Gold surged 605 rupees–its biggest single-day gain this year–to a one-month high of 28,625 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market today. Gold rose after the precious metal posted its steepest rise in nine months in the global markets. Silver spurted 1,800 rupees, to 44,900 rupees per kilo, on increased offtake by industrial units and coin-makers. Silver coins zoomed 3,000 rupees, to 80,000 rupees for buying 100 piecesOverseas, gold climbed to 1,322 dollars an ounce, as the dollar weakened, and as the conflict in Iraq fuelled demand for the safe-haven asset.
