Gold falls to Rs 32015; silver holds steady at Rs 37900

Gold prices today fell by 235 rupees to 32,015 rupees per 10 gram at Delhi bullion market on muted demand from local jewellers amid appreciating rupee.

Silver, however, held steady at 37,900 rupees per kg on scattered enquiries from industrial units and coin makers.

Traders said fall in demand from local jewellers as well as retailers largely dragged down gold prices, but a firm trend overseas, capped the fall. Marketmen said that the appreciating rupee, making imports cheaper, also fuelled the downtrend in the precious metal prices.

Globally, gold rose 0.17 per cent to 1,216 US dollar 10 cents an ounce, while silver edged up 0.14 per cent to 14 US dollar 39 cents an ounce in Singapore.
