Gold declines 10 rupees on sluggish demand

Gold declined 10 rupees, to 30,590 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today, on subdued demand, amid a weak trend in the overseas markets. Silver shed 300 rupees, to 54,800 rupees per kilo, on subdued demand at prevailing higher levels. Silver coins plunged 1,500 rupees, to 62,500 rupees for buying 100 pieces. Overseas, gold fell 0.6 per cent, to 1,598 dollars an ounce after the US central bank extended a program known asOperation Twist, designed to lower long-term interest rates. Silver lost 1.5 per cent, to 27.72 dollars an ounce.
