The Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi called on Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony in his office in New Delhi and discussed the matters relating to insurgency problem and infrastructure development in the State. During the discussion the Chief Minister informed the Defence Minister about the recent arrest of hardcore top ULFA leaders and the situation arising out thereafter. Mr. Tarun Gogoi also discussed on the next course of action to be taken by both the State and the Central Government to bring the banned outfit to the negotiating table.<br/><br/>Praising the role of the Army in tackling the insurgency problem in the State, Mr.Gogoi urged upon the Defence Minister to provide more funds to develop the international border areas particularly in road communication sector.<br/><br/>Mr. Antony assured the Chief Minister that Defence Ministry would give top priority for infrastructure development in the bordering areas as well as in the Defence sector within the State. The Chief Minister also met the Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily.<br/><br/>
