Lt. Gen Bipin Rawat, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command today reviewed Passing Out Parade of the 130th course of the National Defence Academy held at Khetrapal Parade Ground in Pune.<br/><br/>Grand demonstration by Sarang Helicopters was star attraction of today's parade. Every year, two batches of the tri-services training academy pass out and join the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. 298 cadets passed out today.<br/><br/>They will be joining training academies of their respective forces for a year before getting commissioned as officers.<br/><br/>On Monday these cadets were awarded their BA in Social Science and BSc in Science and Computer Science degrees of JNU. These cadets included six from friendly foreign countries.<br/><br/>Anil Sahasrabuddhe, chairman of All India Council of Technical Education and former director of College of Engineering, Pune was present on the occasion as a chief guest.<br/><br/>In his convocation address, Sahasrabuddhe told the passing out cadets, that though degrees are awarded to many young men and women every year in all universities of India, but in his opinion, degrees given to NDA recruits are very special.<br/><br/>These are not merely meant for getting jobs, but a certificate to protect the motherland, he said.<br/><br/>Divisional Cadet Captain Rohit Joshi won the Commandant's silver medal and trophy of Commanding Officer of Army Staff presented by General K Sundarji for coming first in the Science stream with the highest Final Grade Point Average.<br/><br/>Battalion Cadet Adjutant Vikas Sangwan received the Commandant's silver medal and the Admiral's trophy presented by Admiral Suresh Mehta for coming first in the Computer Science stream.<br/><br/>Battalion Cadet Captain Naman Bhatt bagged the Commandant's silver medal and the Trophy of Commanding Officer of Air Staff presented by Air Chief Marshal NC Suri for coming first in the Social Science stream.<br/><br/>Cadet Joshi also bagged the Chief of Naval Staff trophy presented by Admiral OS Dawson for coming first in all the three streams combined.
