Goa's renowned social activist Mr. Aires Rodrigues today filed a complaint of theft and criminal conspiracy against Chairman of the Goa Law Commission Mr. Ramakant Khalap and Under Secretary Law, Mr. N.P. Signapurkler in connection with the missing of a file pertaining to the formation of the Goa Law Commission from the state secretariat. Mr. Khalap is a former Union Law Minister and also a former Deputy Chief Minister of Goa. In his complaint to the Porvorim Police station, Mr. Aires has stated that he has reason to suspect that the theft of the file from the secretariat at Porvorim may have been done by Mr. Signapurker in conspiracy with Mr. Khalap, Chairman of the Goa Law Commission. The social activist has alleged that the file which is missing for over two months was made to disappear to avoid the contents of the file being made public under the RTI act. The acting secretary of the Law Commission of Goa and the Officer on special duty to the LC Mr. Manohar Shetye has also lodged a complaint with the Director General of Police, Panaji that the file relating to the Constitution of Law Commission of Goa and related matters has gone missing. Mr. Shetye has said in the complaint that this matter was brought to the notice of the Law Commission through press reports.
