Goa Polls: Cong releases its Manifesto

The Congress today released its election manifesto for the Goa assembly polls slated for the 3rd of next month. Party's General Secretary and senior leader Oscar Fernandes released the manifesto at Panaji in Goa. The manifesto promises an increase in monthly allowance to senior citizens from 1000 rupees to 2500 rupees under Dayanand Niradhar Yojana.Other promises made by the party include new Ponda District, medical claims up to 7 lakh rupees and insurance schemes to cover all illness. It says, if voted to power, it will increase corpus from 60,000 rupees to 1 lakh per house hold under Swarnajayanti Social Security card scheme and construct 5000 flats and houses through housing board in next five years. A new employment linked education policy, free water and electricity supply up to 150 houses of Scheduled Casts and Scheduled tribes and other backward classes and economically weaker families with income below 1 Lakh rupees are the other highlights of the Congress manifesto for Goa.The manifesto also speaks of complete mining ore corridor for ore transportation in all mining taluks.The party has decided to constitute a monitoring and evaluation committee within a month of the completion of the electoral process. The committee will review the implementation of the policies and programmes mentioned in the manifesto and publicize its findings every year.Congress party, which has allied with NCP to fight Goa assembly polls is contesting thirty three seats leaving seven for its alliance partner NCP.
