Goa Police arrest one suspect in Russian girl rape case

In Goa, police today arrested Anil Raghuvanshi, one of the two accused in the nine-year-old Russian girl rape case. Raguvanshi had allegedly engaged the victim's mother in a conversation while the crime was being committed. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ravindra Yadav told PTI that Raghuvanshi, was arrested from a bus stop in Panaji on Friday morning. He said the main accused, Aman Bharadwaj, is still at large. Yadav said Raghuvanshi is being interrogated and only after that it would be decided whether he is only an accomplice or was also involved in the crime.<br/><br/>A nine-year-old Russian girl, holidaying in Goa with her mother, was raped allegedly by Aman Bharadwaj on Arambol beach on Tuesday. His accomplice Raghuvanshi diverted the mother's attention by striking a conversation with her. Meanwhile, in the backdrop of rising incidence of sexual abuse against foreigners, Goa State Commission for Women has decided to seek details of investigations of all such cases from the Police Department.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the BJP today expressed grave concern over the recent incident that happened with Russian tourist in Goa. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, the party spokesman Mr Ravishankar Prasad said that Goa has a vast potential of attracting domestic and foreing tourists and such type of incidents can affect the tourism sector. Mr Prasad asked the state government to take adequate steps to check such menace.
