Goa: IFFI screens two films on tiger conservation

International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa is screening two films on tiger conservation. These are ‘Gyamo – queen of the mountains’ and ‘Machli – the world’s most famous tiger. The critically acclaimed film ‘Gyamo – queen of the mountains’ is about Gyamo, a snow leopard found in Ladakh and her two cubs, that have not been seen ever since a big male snow leopard appeared.&nbsp;<br />”<br />”<br />”The filmmakers – Mike Pandey and his son Gautam Pandey highlight the challenges faced by this endangered big cat. The film is aimed at creating awareness among nature lovers, authorities and tourists about the urgent need for the conservation of snow leopard.<br />”<br />”<br />”The second film which is being screened at IFFI is ‘Machli – the world’s most famous tiger’. This documentary has been made by noted wildlife filmmaker S Nalla Muthu. In his 40-minute film, he traces the life of tigress Machli that once ruled Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan.&nbsp;<br />”<br />”<br />”<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">The tigress also lived much longer that most other tigresses. In August 2016, Machli died at the age of 19, after being thrown away by one of her daughters following a fight for territory.&nbsp;</span><br />
