In Goa the 43 international film festival kick starts this evening. In Indian Panorama 20 Feature and 19 Non-Feature films will be screened. Apart from best films from 70 countries there will also be special segments such as Festival Kaleidoscope, Cinema of the World, Foreign Retrospectives, Country Focus, and Masterstrokes. The Festival will showcase Oscar Award winner Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’ as its opening movie, and will screen Mira Nair’s ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ as the closing movie of the festival. Cinestar, Akshay Kumar will be the Chief Guest for the opening function while Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Mr. Manish Tewari will be present on the occasion along with Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar and other prominent dignitaries.
Renowned Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award during the opening function of IFFI. Mr. Zanussi is known for producing acclaimed films like Camouflage, Family life, The Silent Touch, The Contract and Revisited. Talking to media today Mr. Zanussi expressed his gratitude towards this prestigious award.
