Goa: Heavy rainfall brings life to standstill in some areas

Goa received heavy rainfall since last week throwing normal life out of gear, but the force has weakened since yesterday. Stormy rains were witnessed in some areas like Ponda, Sattari, and other talukas. There were news about falling of trees, landslides, and poles thus disturbing the traffic and closure roads in some areas.<br />'' <br />'' Goa receives an average rainfall of around 100 to 120 inches from June to September every year. Total seasonal rainfall has reached around 69 inches so far while some areas have already recorded around 75 inches. Meanwhile, farming activity has picked up in the state.  <br />'' <br />''A well-marked low-pressure area over coastal Odisha has weakened, but with the likely formation of circulation over Gujarat-Saurashtra area, rainfall activity may slightly increase on Friday. The fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for two days.
