The Goa Government has decided to reduce petrol prices by 11 rupees a litre. Current price of petrol in Goa is 65 rupees per litre. Presenting the State Budget yesterday, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar proposed reduction of VAT on petrol from 12 percent to 0.1 percent thereby bringing down prices of petrol in the state significantly. Mr Parrikar also proposed to freeze the LPG prices for the next five years. He also announced 1,000 rupees monthly allowance for house-wives from the families with annual income of less than three lakh rupees. The entry fee for the off-shore casinos in Goa has also been reduced from 2,000 rupees to 500 rupees. Mr. Parrikar has proposed to levy fee on iron ore lying on government owned forest land and sought to conduct auction for the ore deposited on agricultural land owned by individuals.
