The Goa Government cannot provide any concession to striking taxi operators on installing speed governors as this is binding on all states under a Supreme Court directive, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar clarified Saturday evening at a press conference in Panaji. <br/><br/>Mr. Parrikar said, the government cannot interfere in the court directive to provide any relaxations to taxi drivers. <br/><br/>He added that other states have already implemented the directive. <br/><br/>He informed that the deadline to follow the directive is 24th of the next month in Goa and only about 25% of taxi operators have installed speed governors so far. <br/><br/>He further clarified that action will be initiated against operators after the deadline. <br/><br/>He added that contracts of taxi operators who failed to follow contract terms entered into with government departments by not providing services would be terminated. <br/><br/>Taxi operators in Goa did not provide services on Friday and Saturday.
