Goa government has issued the Request For Proposal (RFP) for the Mopa Greenfield International Airport in north Goa to four short listed companies. The last date for filing RFPs is 15th April.The companies are GVK, GMR, Essel Infra-Mumbai and Voluptas Developers with two amongst them tied up with foreign partners. The International airport, with a capacity to handle 4.4 million passengers in its first phase, is to be constructed on private-public partnership mode, is expected to begin flights in 2019. Land for the airport has already been acquired and environmental clearances obtained for the project. The state government has already clarified that the existing Dabolim airport in South Goa will continue its civil operations.
