Following sounding of a countrywide terror alert especially for Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa and Bangalore by the Union Home Ministry, the Goa Government has fully geared its machinery to thwart any possible terror attack, ahead of the New Year. AIR Panaji correspondent quoting official sources reports the state’s Home Department has already kept ready the Coast Guard, the Police force and para military forces in the event of occurrence of any possible attack by the terrorists at a time when the state is witnessing an unprecedented rush of domestic and foreign visitors who have converged in the state in large numbers to celebrate the New Year. The police have identified the vulnerable spots in the state and tightened the security in those areas. The state police are put on the constant vigil to check all the vehicles entering the state at all the border points. The Marine Police are also put on the job. The hotel industry is directed to keep a record of the visitors camping in their hotels besides CCTV`s are installed at many hotels located in the sensitive locations. The vital installations in the state have also beefed up their security cover in view of the advisory from the centre.
