Goa film festival extravaganza closes today

The 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is all set to come to a close this evening with the screening of French director Luc Besson's 'The Lady', at Panaji in Goa. The film is based on veteran Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Mohan Jatua and Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will grace the occasion.

The 11-day magnificent extravaganza, which was flagged off by Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, will be concluded by Southern Superstar Suriya as a Chief Guest.

Luc Besson and Hollywood actress Michelle Yeoh, who is playing the role of Suu Kyi, are also expected to add to the glamour along with some other actors, film makers and singers, who would be awarded for their contribution to the Indian film industry at the closing ceremony.

This edition of the festival, which had more than 150 movies from 65 countries in various sections, had really gone global with the film makers of the repute of Bertrand Tavernier from France and Australian director Phil Noyce attending and commending it.

Technologically more advanced this year with films in 3-D and animation segment being screened, the special Soccer segment kept after considering Goans love for the game, however, does not get the response the IFFI organisers expected.
