Goa elections needs to be seen from point of strengthening hands of Modi govt at Centre: Venkaiah Naidu

Information & Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said that Goa elections needs to be seen from the point of strengthening the hands of Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Addressing a press conference at State BJP office in Panaji, the minister said that the central goverenment suffered a lot due to the lack of majority in the Rajya Sabha. <br/><br/>Slamming the opposition for its delaying tactics in the upper house the minster said that the upcoming assembly elections assume great importance in this respect. Recounting the reforms and initiatives undertaken by the past BJP regime in Goa, Mr Naidu said that there is a need to continue the developmental agenda. <br/><br/>Answering a query on whether a central minister will come as the Chief Minister of Goa, he said there is no room for speculations. He said the decision will be taken by the BJP MLAs after the elections.<br/><br/>On demonetization, the minister said that the initiative will have a very positive impact on the elections. Terming demonetization as a long term gain, the minister said that all parties including congress had initially supported the move. <br/><br/>On the poll prospects of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Mr Naidu said that the party is poised for a good win in the state. He said that UP is currently lagging behind in all developmental indices. He added that the people of UP are disgusted with the communal politics of SP and BSP.
