Goa: Congress declares second list of seven candidates for ensuing Assembly polls

Congress Party in Goa on Tuesday declared its second list of seven candidates for the ensuing Assembly polls in the state. Earlier the party had announced names of 22 candidates. The Congress is contesting 33 seats in the state, leaving seven seats for Nationalist Congress Party with whom it has formed an alliance in the forthcoming elections. Party sources said, the list of four candidates will be announced shortly.Meanwhile, the Centre has sanctioned 31companies of para military forces in Goa for the Assembly polls slated on March 3. Disclosing this at a press conference in Panaji, the Joint Chief Election Officer Narayan Navati said, that each company consisting of 80 personnel, will arrive in the state in phases. He said, besides over 3600 policemen from Goa will also be deployed during polling.
