The Goa Chief Minister Mr Digamber Kamat who also holds the finance portfolio presented the State’s annual budget for the financial year 2011-12 in the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Giving details of the annual financial statement the Chief Minister said the estimated receipt and the total gross expenditure for the year 2011-12 are placed at 6698.31 crore rupees and 8022.19 crores. Later talking to media persons he said the budget is growth oriented budget with emphasis on education, women and child development, agriculture and allied sector, social welfare, tribal welfare and industries. Chief Minister’s awards for farmers in agriculture and horticulture, opening of an Alzheimer Disease Home, incentives for girl child, unemployment subsistence allowance for jobless youth, mini-laptop scheme for higher secondary students are the other highlights of the budget.
