Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia payment of five lakh rupees each to the next of kin of the deceased in the Vasco fire tragedy due to naphtha leakage that have claimed two lives besides a major devastation. One person succumbed to the burn injuries on Tuesday while one died on Wednesday. The Chief Minister also announced an interim relief of one lakh rupees each to the families living in the 12 houses which were affected by the fire and 50,000 each to the seven injured people.Meanwhile, the interim report submitted by the District Magistrate to the state government on Wednesday, has indicated the negligence by National Highway Authority of India and the Zuari Indian Oil Tanking Ltd. The District Magistrate is scheduled to submit his final report within ten days. AIR Correspondent reports that petrol pumps in the capital Panaji today went dry after the fuel tankers could not arrive since the petrol could not be loaded in the tankers from the Mormugaon harbour. This seriously hampered the normal flow of traffic in the city while it also led to the black-marketeering of petrol. The people in Vasco city today staged a protest, demanding action against those responsible for the tragedy.
