<br/> <br/>Goa celebrates its Revolution Day today to recall the sacrifices and valour of the freedom fighters and pay lofty tributes to known and unknown Freedom Fighters and Martyrs who participated in the freedom struggle and shed their blood for Goa’s freedom. <br/> <br/>As a part of this celebrations 14 Freedom fighters, posthumously and living will be honoured by Governor Dr. S.S. Sidhu and Chief Minister Shri Digambar Kamat at the main function to be held at Martyrs Memorial at Azad Maidan Panaji at 8.45 a.m. Goa Kranti Din will also be celebrated at Lohia Maidan Margao and Kranti Maidan, Ponda. <br/> <br/>After the main function the freedom fighters will proceed to Aguada at 11 a.m. to pay homage to Martyrs. Besides the Governor and Chief Minister the function to be held at Azad Maidan will be attended by Speaker Shri Pratapsingh Rane, Leader of Opposition Shri Manohar Parrikar, Acting Chief Secretary Shri Narendra Kumar, Director General of Police Shri Bhim Sain Bassi, Shri Naguesh Karmali, President of Goa Daman and Diu Freedom Fighters Association, Panaji and Shri Chandrakant S. Kenkre, President of Freedom Fighters Association Goa Ponda. <br/> <br/>The dignitaries will place wreaths at the Martyrs memorial. Patriotic songs will be sung by the Choir Group of Bal Bhavan. The parade will pay compliments to the Martyrs memorial. ‘Prabhat Pherries’ by School Children will also be organised. <br/> <br/>At Margao Minister for PWD Shri Churchill Alemao, will place the wreath at Martyrs Memorial at Lohia Maidan to pay homage followed by other Ministers, freedom fighters and other dignitaries while at Kranti Maidan, Minister for Home Shri Ravi S. Naik, will pay homage to the Martyrs. <br/> <br/>The freedom fighters to be honoured at Azad Maidan are Chandrakant Nilu Parrikar, Calangute (posthumous), Govindaji Jaswantrao Desai, Pernem (posthumous), Puti Ganesh Gaonkar, Sattari (posthumous) , Shri Vishnu Zaiko Gaonkar, Sattari (posthumous), Raghoba Babli Mainkar, Sattari(posthumous), Sukdo Dhakto Chari, Sattari (posthumous), Shivaji Pandurang Sawant, Panaji (posthumous), George Francisco C. Andrade, St. Inez (posthumous), Shri Pandurang Dadasaheb Rane, Bicholim (living), Shri Sitaram Bablo Humraskar, Mapusa (living), Shri Krishna Laxman Kerkar, Vasco (living), Shri Damodar Tukaram Kambli, Panaji (living), Shri Raghoba V. Malik, Sanquelim (living) and Shri Chandrakant Bablo Parab (living). <br/> <br/>It was on this day in 1946, the renowned freedom fighter Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya gave a clarion call to the people of Goa to fight unitedly against the Portuguese rule that culminated in Goa's freedom. The state Governor Dr. S.S.Sidhu and the Chief Minister Mr. Digambar Kamat have greeted the people on the occasion.<br/>
