The Goa Cabinet which met today soon after the swearing in ceremony has unanimously decided to convene the budget session of the assembly on the 19th of this month. Addressing a press conference at Porvorim at Minister's Block, the newly sworn in Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parriker said the House will meet on 19th to administer oath to the newly appointed MLAs and election of the Speaker. The Cabinet also decided to appoint Mr. Mahadev Naik as the protem speaker. The other issues decided in the Cabinet include appointment of Mr. Atmaram Nadkarni as the Advocate General, a complete revision of the security of VIPs, review of the legal status of the Regional Plan 2021, methodology to be adopted in disposal of plastic garbage in the state, filling up of the backlog of the SC, ST and OBC communities in various departments and justice to malaria workers on contract basis etc. Earlier Mr. Parriker was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Goa at a special function held at SAG grounds at Campal in Panaji and attended by national leaders besides a large crowd drawn from different parts of the state and neighbouring states. Alongwith Mr. Parriker five other ministers were also sworn in. The portfolios of the newly appointed ministers will be announced later. Those inducted in the Council of Ministers include Francis Desouza, Ramkrishna Dhavliker, Laxmikant Parsenker, Dayanand Mandreker and Mathany Saldhana. Mr. Parsenker is a first time Minister while the rest four had been ministers in Mr. Parriker's Cabinet earlier.Six more ministers are likely to be inducted in the cabinet after budget session of the assembly.
