In Goa, by-polling for Valpoi Assembly constituency is in progress. Although the polling began on a slow note ,it is gradually picking up. Over 45 per cent voting has been reported till 2 p m. Several voters from remotest areas of the constituency are showing keen interest in voting despite incessant rain lashing the state since last two days. Election officials have made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during polling. Over 180 CISF personnel are deployed for free and fair polling. For the first time the voters are being video graphed while voting. The keen tussle is being witnessed between Congress candidate Mr.Vishwajit Rane and BJP candidate Santosh Haldanker. The seat had fallen vacant after Mr.Vishwajit Rane, theindependent MLA has resigned to join Congress.
