Global anti-terror agency FATF taking strong steps against Pakistan

Global anti-terror agency, FATF is tightening the noose around Pakistan. The Asia Pacific Group of the FATF will evaluate Pakistan's compliance on its 27 point action plan in Bangkok, early next week. The move is significant since it will be one of the major points while assessing the final review of Pakistan by the international group on money laundering and terror financing.
''
''The final decision as to whether Pakistan will be down graded to the blacklist is to be made by the plenary and working group meetings of the task force scheduled for October 13-18 in Paris. The World body has already put Pakistan in its watch list for its failure to meet the global standards on put and in terror financing and money laundering.
''
''FATF in its meeting last month in Canbara found that Pakistan was non-compliant on 32 out of the 40 parameters of terror financing and money laundering. On 11 effectiveness parameters of its rating was abysmlly low at 10. The most interesting part is that given its poor track record Islamabad was not able to convince the 41 member FATF plenary to upgrade it on any parameter.
''
''In this back drop, hue and cry by the Pakistan interior Minister Ajaz Ahmed Shah that India is trying to get it black listed by FATF is nothing short of the crying wolf trait by the Pakistan establishment.
