Our North Bengal Correspondent reports that the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha Candidates in Darjeeling Kurseong and Kalimpong came out victorious. In Darjeeling Morcha candidate Mr.Trilok Dewan defeated his nearest rival of GNLF Mr. Bhim Subba by over one lakh six thousand votes. In Kalimpong Assembly seat Morcha candidate Dr. Harka Bahadur Chettri defeated his nearest rival of GNLF Mr. Prakash Dahal by over one lakh votes. According to District Returning officer the EVMs one each in Darjeeling and Kalimpong developed problems during counting due to which the result is incomplete. The District Returning officer has referred the matter to the Election Commission. While in Kurseong Dr. Rohit Sharma of the Morcha defeated his nearest rival of GNLF, Mrs. Pemu Chettri by over 93 thousand votes. In Matigarah-Naxalbari and Phasidewa assembly seats the Congress candidate Mr. Shankar Malakar and Mr. Sunil Tirki were declared winner.
