The Gorkha Janmukti Morch, GJM has expressed displeasure over the Gorkha Land Territorial Administration Bill slated to be tabled in the State Assembly on Thursday. A GJM delegation met West Bengal Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh in Kolkata on Wednesday and alleged that the draft bill has deviated from the committed in the tripartite agreement. GJM Secretary Roshan Giri told media persons that under the tripartite agreement, administrative and financial power were supposed to be delegated to the Gorkha Land Territorial Administration Authority, GTA but there is no mention about these in the draft bill. The tripartite agreement was signed to form the GTA to give more autonomy to hill people repealing the existing Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council in presence of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in July last.
