GJM supporters clash with police in WB; two killed

In West Bengal, two Gorkha Janamukti Morcha, GJM supporters were killed in Police firing at Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district today. Additional Director General of Police in charge of Law and Order Surjit Kar Purakayastha said in Kolkata that the incident occurred at Sipchu near Darjeeling at Jalpaiguri district border when GJM supporters started brickbating targeting the police. Later security forces opened fire to bring the situation under control. Several police personnel including Sub Divisional Police Officer of the area were injured in the clash. Our Kolkata correspondent Arijit Chakraborty reports that after the incident the GJM activists ransacked and set on fire several government offices, vehicles, tourist lodges in the hills. The GJM has called indefinite bandh in three hills subdivisions in North Bengal from tomorrow in protest against the police action.
