Gilles Simon of France bags the Maharashtra Open Tennis Title

In Tennis, Gilles Simon has lifted the Maharashtra Open, formerly known as the Chennai Open, India's only ATP World Tour event. The unseeded Frenchman stunned second seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa in straight sets 7-6, 6-2, in the summit clash played at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune yesterday. Simon is ranked 89th in the world, while Anderson is ranked 14th.En route the Final, the Frenchman had knocked out top seed and world number six Marin Cilic, and third seed Roberto Bautista Agut. It was the first title for Simon, since his win at Marseille in February 2015.
