Veteran ghazal singer Jagjit Singh was cremated at Chandanwadi crematorium in Mumbai today. Close relatives, friends and many important personalities from the Indian film and music industry attended the funeral.
Jagjit Singh passed away yesterday, two weeks after he was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.
The veteran singer, popularly known as the Ghazal King had gained acclaim together with his wife Chitra Singh in the 1970s and 1980s. Jagjeet Singh had sung in several Indian languages like Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Sindhi and Nepali. He was awarded, the Padma Bhushan, in 2003.
