Ghatowar unhappy over delay in developmental projects in Mizoram

Union Minister of State for Development of North East Region(DoNER), Shri Paban Singh Ghatowar expressed his unhappiness over delay in developmental projects in Mizoram. Addressing a press conference in state capital Aizawl, the Minister sounded worried and urged the state government to speed up the completion of developmental projects in the state. He said, the flow of funds from DoNER to Mizoram has been increased in last three years but still 21 projects in the state have been delayed, some of them for over five years. The Minister said DoNER has sanctioned around 896 crore rupees for 150 projects in Mizoram but only 391 crore rupees have been utilised under 64 projects so far. He mentioned cost over-run as the government's prime concern in case of delay in a project because revenue generation in the hilly state of Mizoram is comparatively low. Talking about North Eastern Council (NEC), the Minister said, Mizoram receives second highest amount from NEC in the north-east region. Before winding up his two-day visit to Mizoram, the Minister said, the government is looking forward to launch more development schemes for the state, but it has to complete the ongoing projects first.
