Ghana advances to quarterfinals of FIFA Under-17 World Cup

Ghana have become the latest team to move into the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIFA Under-17 World Cup. At the DT Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai today, they defeated dubatants Niger 2-0 in the penultimate Round of Sixteen fixture. Two time FIFA Under-17 World Cup champions are strong title contenders in the present edition. Niger, however, qualified for the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams from the 24 sides across six Groups. In the final pre-quarterfinal match, Brazil will take on Honduras in Kochi at 8 p.m. tonight. The seven teams who have booked their berths in the quarter-finals so far are: Germany, the United States, Spain, England, Iran, Mali and Ghana.
