The 213rd birth anniversary of famous Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib was celebrated today. Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan Urf Ghalib was born this day in 1797 at Kala Mahal in Agra. Ghalib lived in old Delhi at Ballimara for 72 years and his home was declared a national monument. His Mazar (burial ground) is also situated in Delhi, near the famous Nizammudin Aolia tomb. Ghalib was a noted classical Urdu and Persian poet during British colonial rule. He wrote several immortal ghazals which are sung in many ways by different people.<br/> Eminent poets and artistes paid tributes to Mirza Ghalib yesterday evening taking out a candle light procession. The famous lyricist and film director Gulzar, Kathak dancer Uma Sharma and former Union minister Vijay Goel participated in the procession.
